Frequently Asked Questions

You say Schoolshine sites are easy to edit. How easy?

If you can send an email, you can edit a Schoolshine website.

How long before my school has a website?

We promise your school will be online within 20 business days of receiving your deposit.

What kind of support do you offer?
A series of video tutorials will guide you through many of the features of your website. Additionally, support questions are handled via phone and email between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday.

How much is this going to cost?

Our websites are customised and therefore the costs vary. We're happy to discuss our range of charges when you request more information.

We've already got a website with some content on it. Can that content be on our new Schoolshine site?
It sure can - we're happy to migrate your content from your old site to your new site.

We don't have a website - where do we begin?
Many of our clients start out that way. If you'd like, give us a call (or have us call you). We are happy to have an obligation-free chat to explain the basics of how websites come together.

Will you regularly backup our site?
Yes. We backup all our sites every 24 hours.

The Department of Education and Training (DET) has a checklist for all school websites. Do you take this into consideration when you build sites?
Absolutely. In fact, we are on a first name basis with many of the great people at the DET IT Support team. We work with them to make sure your move online is as smooth as possible.

How is it that Schoolshine websites are so affordable?
One of the reasons our sites are affordable is because wherever possible, we choose Open Source Software, which helps keep our costs low. If you're unfamiliar with Open Source Software, we encourage you to learn more.

Who owns Schoolshine?
Tim Longhurst does. Tim has been developing websites since the late 90's, back before Google. He is a communication professional with a passion for social justice and sustainability.

Tim strongly believes in public education and considers Schoolshine an opportunity to help showcase the best of the NSW public education system.
